Painting and touch-ups in Illinois
Single rooms, accent walls, trim and doors, and move-out touch-ups.
Jobs we handle
- Single rooms
- Accent walls
- Trim, baseboards and doors
- Move-out touch-ups
Fresh paint is the cheapest way to make a room look cared for, but only if the prep is done right. Nikola paints single rooms, accent walls, trim and doors. He also does the touch-ups that get a rental ready for the next tenant or a house ready to list.
What’s included
- Moving furniture to the middle of the room and covering it
- Filling nail holes and small dings, and caulking gaps along the trim
- Taping off and cutting in clean lines at ceilings, corners and trim
- Primer where the surface needs it, like over patches, stains or a dark color going light
- Paint on walls, ceilings, trim and doors, in the finish you choose
How the visit goes
Floors get covered before a can gets opened. Switch plates and outlet covers come off instead of getting painted around, and door hardware gets taped or removed.
When the job’s done, everything goes back where it was. The tape comes off, the drop cloths get folded up, and the brushes get cleaned somewhere other than your kitchen sink. Before he leaves, Nikola walks the room with you so you can point out anything you want touched up.
Materials
You pick the color. Nikola can pick up the paint and supplies and list them on your quote, or use paint you already have. Walls usually look best in eggshell or matte, while trim and doors hold up better in satin or semi-gloss, since they get touched and wiped more.
For move-out touch-ups, the original paint, or at least the color name from the can lid, gives the best match. Touching up with a close-but-not-quite color shows, especially in daylight.
Timing
A single room usually takes a day or two, depending on its size, how much prep it needs and how many coats the color calls for. Move-out touch-ups often fit into a few hours. Your written quote spells out the plan before work starts.
Have a patch or two that needs fixing before the paint goes on? Nikola can do both in the same visit.
Questions about painting and touch-ups
Do I need to move the furniture first?
Clear the small things, like lamps, decor and anything fragile. Nikola moves the heavier pieces to the middle of the room and covers them.
Can you match my existing paint?
If you have the leftover can or the color name from the lid, matching is easy. If not, a paint store can usually color-match a small chip, and Nikola can cut one from a hidden spot.
Do you paint ceilings?
Yes, as part of a room or on their own, including stains a past leak left behind once the leak is fixed.
Do you paint exteriors?
Full exterior repaints are a job for a painting crew. Nikola does exterior touch-ups, like a front door, a few trim boards or a railing.
